J.V.F.M's Bloom Looms

This is my group logo. The logo is meant to represent that both boys and girls are able to get a chance to buy broaches. My partner Vine and I decided that boys and girls should be able to buy themselves a flower broach for themselves, siblings, parents and parents.

Libraries

A library is a place where people go to read books, study and work for all ages. Babies, children, teens, adults and elderly can go to the library any time they need to. You can borrow a book by getting a library card. You can get a library card from the desk at the library. People have to behave in a sensible manner or else a librarian would come and ask you to get out of the library. Not all books including reference books and newspapers can be taken out from the library. Everyone can work in the library especially for homework and work from school or the office. The other section except non-fiction and fiction is reference. Libraries are open from 10:00am to 7:00pm.

Non-fiction books are books in the library that are full of facts or in other words not made up. The books in the non-fiction are sorted it out by the dewey decimal system. If you don’t know what the dewey decimal system it is the books in library that are sorted out by numbers for example if your looking for a book about Religion you need to look for it in it’s compartment 200. An example of a non-fiction book is a book about animals.

Fiction books are books in the library that lets the reader imagine what’s happening or in other words made up. It is sorted out by the author’s surname. An example of a fiction book is James & The Giant Peach. It is a fiction book because author Roald Dahl had to take his time and come up with ideas how to put the whole story in the book.

Traditionally, a librarian is associated with collections of books, as demonstrated by the etymology of the word "librarian" (from the Latin liber, "book"). The role of a librarian is continually evolving to meet social and technological needs. A modern librarian may deal provision and maintenance of information in many formats, including: physical books; electronic resources; magazines; newspapers; audio and video recordings; maps; manuscripts; photographs and other graphic material; bibliographic databases; and web-based and digital resources. A librarian may also provide other information services, including: computer provision and training; coordination with community groups to host public programs; basic literacy education; assistive technology for people with disabilities; and assistance locating community resources. Appreciation for librarians is often included by authors and scholars in the Acknowledgment sections of books.

My Best Holiday

On Tuesday 8th July 2014 my dad took my brother Julio and I to my friend Miguel’s house to stay there until he finished work that day. We were riding in his new car which is a ‘‘Ford Territory’’ that he bought from a car shop near our house.

First of all my dad told us to hop off the car so he wouldn’t be late. When we arrived at Miguel’s no one was outside so we decided to go near their house and knock. But before we could knock we saw our uncle, he was going to work. I immediately went up to him and grabbed his hand and placed it on my forehead (this is a sign of respect in the Philippines that is done to every elder or adult you meet). Afterwards we went in and watched television. The show was ‘‘Kung Fu Panda’’ so we decided to go to his room after the show. ‘‘C’mon Miguel lets go to your room already!’’ I suggested. Before we could go he told me ‘‘Let’s play Xbox when we’re finished playing with the Lego!’’ Then the three of us went to his room to do some stuff.

Miguel and Julio were playing with the Lego at the far end of the bed. Then I went over to them and noticed that they both made cars. After that, we ran out the door like a darting cheetah closing the door in the process. We ran to the lounge and started playing on the Xbox.

I got my Xbox controller, while Miguel was putting the disc into the machine. Then we opened up a world that Miguel plays the most on then I connected my controller so that we would play together.Miguel’s baby brother came to the living room and watched us play. Julio on the other hand was playing on the Ipad which he’d asked Miguel if he could use ‘‘The three of you should have lunch now!’’ Miguel’s mum Melanie told us. So we got up, paused the game and went to the table.

We first prayed and blessed the food then started getting our lunch. I then remembered that we also had some food in the bag my mum prepared for us to eat there. So I told Julio to get the food out from the bag and place it on the table. Then Julio got up and did what I told him to minutes earlier. Later on, we finished and put our plates in the sink for us to clean.

After lunch we went back to the living room to rest for a few minutes.Soon we just watched some youtube videos from our favourite youtubers, then after that we continued playing our game but in a new world. This time Julio was on the Xbox while I was on the Ipad.

At around six ‘o’ clock my mum picked us up just before we finished another video of our favourite youtuber. My mum told my brother and I to say goodbye and get to the car which was her new car as well a ‘‘Mazda Verisa‘’ so we drove off and went home.

This was the best holiday of my life yet.

Polar Bears

POLAR BEARS

Polar Bears are carnivores that eat seals and fish around the Arctic Circle. The male bear is called a boar and the female bear is called a sow. The boar weighs around 350 - 700 kg and the sow weighs half of the boar’s weight. It
has many body characteristics which include adaptation to cold temperatures, for moving across snow, ice, and open water.

The polar bear is often called a marine mammal because it spends most months of the year at sea. It is the only living ‘‘Marine Mammal’’ with strong, big limbs and feet that allow them to cover miles on foot and run on land. Its preferred habitat is the annual sea ice covering the waters over the continental shelf.

The bear uses its excellent sense of smell to locate a seal breathing hole, and crouches nearby in silence for a seal to appear. The bear may lay in wait for several hours. When the seal exhales, the bear smells its breath, reaches into the hole with a forepaw, and drags it out onto the ice. The polar bear kills the seal by biting its head to crush its skull. The polar bear also hunts by stalking seals resting on the ice.

How Do People Express Their Feelings?

I Am Learning To Write An Explanation

Different people show different types of feelings. Their feelings come out when people are happy, sad and scared.

When people are happy, they smile and say good things to the other people around them. But when they are sad they cry and go near their parents to help them feel comfortable. When they are scared they run away from the danger.

Also people usually get really angry when other people annoy them. You can tell a person is angry when they are kicking anything in their way. When people are feeling kind of sick they have a tired look on their face. Then they start to vomit everywhere they go.

So these are some of the ways people express their feelings in every situation. Can you think of any others. . .
